Russian media and social networks called the crushing defeat of the Russian national football team "shame".

Journalists and bloggers excitedly discuss yesterday's shame that the Russian national football team, and with it the whole country, went through in Belgrade - the defeat from the Serbian national team with a score of 0: 5!

First of all, it should be noted that the captain of our team, Georgy Dzhikia, found the strength and courage to apologize to the fans:

“There is nothing special to say, I would like to apologize for this misunderstanding that happened on the pitch today. The responsibility lies entirely with the players ... Therefore, I would like to apologize to everyone who saw today this, one might say, shame".

But the head coach Stanislav Cherchesov did not find such courage in himself, preferring to utter words of excuse:

"Today's game showed that after all, a team should be a team, and we had a lot of new players, and not everyone succeeds in playing at this level from the list..."

Journalists, with rare exceptions, did not support Cherchesov. So sports journalist Sevastian Terletsky is shocked by what happened in Belgrade:

“... and then the Serbs began to punish us. Four times in a time - collapse, shame, shame, failure. And who will say that it is not the case? During the break, Cherchesov changed the goalkeeper. And we conceded another goal. I am ashamed of this team. It is a shame that we cannot defeat a demotivated and weakened Serbia. Stanislav Salamovich, there is fatigue. The players have it, and we have it from the game of your team..."

Terletsky's colleague Dmitry Girin fully agrees with him:

"It was terrible. This is a catastrophe. It is difficult even to remember when the match of the Russian national team left such a gloomy impression. When I wanted the judge to blow the final whistle as soon as possible, and this torment ended. Probably, the match with Wales at EURO 2016 comes to mind, but even then the Welsh scored only three.

Probably the last time something like Belgrade happened was in 2004, on that nightmare night in Lisbon, when Portugal was cutting us into nuts, and Georgiy Yartsev fled from the bench before the game was over. But then against Russia went Cristiano Ronaldo, Deco, Ricardo Carvalho, Maniche, Pauleta. That Portugal four months before had become the second at home European Championship, and a year and a half later reached the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup.

Now we were humiliated by the Serbs, who lacked a group of leading performers - Kolarov, Milinkovic-Savic, Tadic. And there is no need to nod that, they say, Jovic is playing in Real Madrid - he sits there on a bench, and everyone in Madrid will only be glad if they get rid of him. Serbia, which, by all accounts, should have been crushed...

Why did the national team come up in such a state to the decisive matches? And there is no need to talk about fatigue and personnel losses. There is a clear feeling that the causes of the Belgrade catastrophe are much deeper..."

Journalist Kirill Shulika nevertheless found words of justification for our team, and urged not to change its head coach before the European Championship:

“There is no need, of course, to justify the Russian national team, because the defeat by rather mediocre Serbs, who did not even qualify for the European Championship, is a shame. But what happened cannot be compared with those same Portuguese 1: 7 in the qualifying match for the 2006 World Cup.

Let's start with the fact that the Russian national team will never again play in the same lineup in which it played with the Serbs. There were, probably, almost all the leading players, except for Dzhikia, Zhirkov and the Miranchuk brothers, with a stretch of Ozdoev and Kuzyaev. Still, there is a pretty decent gap between the main players and the nearest reserve. There are good young people, but the head coach is right when he says that they cannot be brought into the national team in such conditions without any consequences. Again, as before the home World Championship, I will write that Cherchesov should be left behind and let him work for Euro. Just after the tournament, you need to go to the World Championship in Qatar with a different coach and with a different team, because the current team will cease to exist ..."

Journalist Pavel Pryanikov quite rightly drew attention to the colossal gap between the income of Russian footballers and the quality of their game - this is not the case anywhere in the world, except perhaps China:

“I watched the first half Serbia-Russia, 4: 0. It's a pity for the time spent, I swore to watch our football (I haven't watched the championship for three years already). And this despite the fact that dollar millionaires are running around the field for Russia. But it is clear that they are sick of this work, they just kick the ball - they pay not for the result, but according to the approved contract.

Roughly the same results this year in European competition.

It has long been necessary to disperse this poorhouse, where only the Major League costs $ 0.5-0.6 billion per year. Of these, the players themselves pay off 10-20 percent.

It is now necessary to live within our means and according to the result in Russia everywhere.

If Moscow is about the same as Poland in terms of average living standards, then in football the same salaries have to be paid. I read that in the Polish Premier League, footballers receive an average of 7-8 thousand euros per month along with taxes. Usually it is also customary to pay a bonus for winning a match of 1,000 euros. At the leading club Legia, some of the best footballers receive € 30,000 a month. If you want more, fight your way into the rich championships of England or Spain.

(And in Russia - it will not be for bedtime to remember - wooden Dziuba receives 300 thousand euros a month)..."

And finally, one of the best footballers in the history of modern Russia, Alexander Mostovoy, called on the football community to descend from heaven to earth, since the national team showed exactly the level that it was supposed to show:

“I think, first of all, Stanislav Cherchesov should answer the questions accumulated by the football community. We saw everything with our own eyes. Ugly first half! Serbs did not show anything supernatural. But when we got to our penalty area, we scored in class, in skill. Yes, you can complain about staffing problems, but after all, several people dropped out of the owners at once.

I really didn’t like the fact that from this whole situation, the video, they made a show... Even on federal channels they discussed it as a problem of a universal scale. Nonsense. World turned upside down! I say the same thing to everyone from time to time: “Guys, forget the home world championship. It was two and a half years ago. And we won nothing there. "But for some reason everyone was made heroes... For what? It was impossible to praise the players and coaches like that. There are no trifles in sports, this game cannot be fooled... For some reason, our society soared in the clouds. And the guilty ones were those who spoke the truth. Now everyone will begin to criticize the national team, they will take off their rose-colored glasses. But we, football people, never flatter ourselves with the results. And we are not critics, although they think we are. We have other stars ... Why don't they go anywhere? Because nobody needs them in Europe. There, players of this level stand in line and wait to be offered at least some kind of contract. And our salaries clearly do not correspond to the level of football players. Now we have been lowered from heaven to earth..."
