The Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane on Tuesday, May 5, made an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo Airport due to engine failure. The liner was supposed to deliver passengers to Saratov.

It is reported by TASS, referring to the emergency services.

- After the departure to Saratov, according to preliminary data, the left engine of plane failed. The crew decided to return. At 07:16, the aircraft made an emergency landing in the normal mode, ”the source said, adding that there were no injuries among passengers and crew.

According to representatives of emergency services, the plane flew to Saratov at about 6:45. He stayed in the air for about half an hour, and before landing he did a few laps.

The liner will be inspected by technical service specialists. Currently, the causes of the incident are being established.

We recall that a number of accidents are associated with the liners produced by the Komsomolsk-on-Amur aircraft factory in the Khabarovsk Territory. One of the most tragic accidents occurred exactly a year ago - on May 5, 2019, when Aeroflot’s “Superjet” caught fire in Sheremetyevo, and 41 people were killed in a fire. It was after this disaster that increased attention was paid to Sukhoi aircraft.

More than once the SSJ-100 had to make an emergency landing as a result of malfunctions. For example, in January of this year, the board urgently landed in Rostov-on-Don due to the operation of the fuel sensor. In the same month, IrAero Airlines sent to Sukhoi Civil Aircraft JSC a claim for damages in the amount of about 2 billion rubles. There are nine Superjets in the carrier’s fleet, of which only five are operational. In February, the SSJ-100 failed a test for the release of emergency inflatable ramps.
