The case against Yefremov was re-qualified to a more serious one after the death of the victim

The criminal case against the honored artist of Russia Mikhail Yefremov, who on Monday provoked an accident on Smolenskaya Square in Moscow, was re-qualified as a more serious crime after a driver who suffered in an accident died in a hospital.

Earlier, criminal proceedings were instituted against Yefremov under the article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - violation of traffic rules, which entailed causing serious harm to the health of another person. Now the case is being qualified on the fourth part of this article of the criminal code after the death of the victim in an accident, writes Interfax with reference to a representative of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Now Efremov faces up to 12 years in prison.

On Monday evening, drunk Efremov flew into the oncoming lane, which provoked an accident with Lada. The Lada driver was taken to the hospital with multiple fractures, closed skull injuries and injuries to internal organs. On Tuesday, he died in a hospital from blood loss. Efremov was detained on the spot. He was later released on bail.
