Buenos Aires authorities said there is a lack of personal protective equipment for doctors, coronavirus tests, and mechanical ventilation devices in the city.

"At the government level, there were no such appeals, but there was an appeal to me from the mayor of Buenos Aires, Horacio Larreta, in terms of the supply of protective medical materials for the fight against coronavirus. But I think this was a circular appeal to all embassies”, - TASS quotes the words of Dmitry Feoktistov, Russian ambassador to Buenos Aires.

The appeal was reported to Moscow. According to the diplomat, it is currently under consideration.

Feoktistov said that Argentinean doctors need personal protective equipment, tests and ventilation devices. However, this is not an appeal at the government level, Feoktistov said.

- At the government level, there were no such appeals, but there was an appeal to me from the mayor of Buenos Aires, Horacio Larreta, in terms of the supply of protective medical materials for the fight against coronavirus. But I think it was a circular appeal to all embassies, the diplomat said.

Dialogue with the Government of Argentina regarding other issues, said Feoktistov, is conducted in an online format.

- There are topics on which we continue a rich dialogue. First of all, it is Venezuela, disarmament, a number of other topics, the ambassador noted.

He expressed the hope that Argentinean President Alberto Fernandez, Foreign Minister Felipe Sola, Vice President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and the head of the lower house of parliament, Sergio Massa, will pay an official visit to Russia after lifting restrictive measures to combat the pandemic.

To date, in Argentina recorded 23 thousand cases of infection with a new coronavirus infection. 7.5 thousand people recovered. 698 patients died.

Recall that the disease spreads rapidly throughout Latin America. Brazil, coming in second place in terms of the number of infected, has become a new focus of the spread of infection. At the same time, the Brazilian authorities have limited open access to general statistics on the number of patients and deaths from coronavirus.
