In response to complaints of continued harassment of the black population of the United States, especially amid mass protests in the United States and around the world since the death of George Floyd, Ghana's Minister of Tourism Barbara Oteng-Gyasi urged African Americans to return to their historical homeland.

"We continue to hold our arms open and invite all our brothers and sisters home. Ghana is your home. Africa is your home. Our arms are open to greet you at home", - the blogger psyteaman quoted on his page in LiveJournal the minister's words that were told in memory of the murdered George Floyd.

The political circles of Ghana have created a whole state program for the return of compatriots living abroad. In Ghana, they believe that the return of black Americans to the lands of their ancestors will mark the healing of emotional wounds, and at the same time will ensure the economic recovery of the entire African continent.

However, representatives of the diaspora of the former residents of Ghana believe that first Ghana should become more democratic, tighten economic indicators and fight corruption more actively. And then, maybe, they will think about returning to the African country.

The death of African American George Floyd on May 25 caused a wave of mass protests and riots in US cities, and then around the world. During the detention of Floyd, the police used a harsh strangulation, after which he died.
