The court found Kirill Serebrennikov guilty in the case of the Seventh Studio

The verdict is still being announced, Kommersant reports. The measure of punishment has not yet been announced.

“The court ruled that Serebrennikov, Itin and Malobrodsky committed fraud... Serebrennikov carried out the general management of all members of the group and took measures to conceal theft,” said judge Olesya Mendeleev.

The verdict says that the former director of the Department of State Support for Art of the Ministry of Culture Sophia Apfelbaum did not know about the “criminal action” of Serebrennikov and others.

The amount of damage from the theft of subsidies for the Platform project was estimated at 128.9 million rubles.

Earlier, the state prosecutor requested for Serebrennikov six years in prison. In addition, the prosecutor asked to impose a fine of 800 thousand rubles on the director.

Former director of the Gogol Center Alexei Malobrodsky, the prosecutor asked for five years in prison. For Sophia Apfelbaum and the ex-CEO of Seventh Studio Yuri Itin - four years in prison.

Earlier, his colleagues, social activists, poets, and journalists spoke in support of the director. They demanded that the Ministry of Culture intervene in the proceedings.

Many did not believe that Serebrennikov was found guilty. For example, Ksenia Sobchak published a post on the day the verdict was announced, in which she predicted a successful outcome.

“Today everything will end well, we will all win”, wrote the TV presenter, who considers the matter absurd.

“On Friday (June 26), at 11 a.m., when I hope you join me and come to the Meshchansky court to pronounce the verdict on director Kirill Serebrennikov and his colleagues, please come fully protected,” the rapper wrote on his page.

For the Russian cultural figure stood up and authorized by the Government of Germany on Human Rights Bärbel Kofler. She stated that the outcome of the case is important for the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture.
