The republics of Donbass will soon become part of the Russian Federation, said the former Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, the head of the Union of Donbass Volunteers, Alexander Boroday, speaking at the congress of the Russian Rodina party in St. Petersburg.

“I am sure that in a relatively short time the republics of Donbass will no longer become a de facto part of the Russian Federation - de facto they are already part of the Russian Federation, but will become such a de jure”, - Strana.ua qutes Boroday.

At the same time, the ex-prime minister addressed the topic of voting on amendments to the Constitution, which was attended by residents of the DPR and LPR, who have Russian passports.

“Of course, we are taking steps forward and voting on amendments to the Constitution is a very important step”,- Boroday said.

On June 12, in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Russia Day received the status of a public holiday. This year, for the first time, residents of the republic celebrated this day in this status. Earlier, the head of the republic Denis Pushilin said that the main goal of the DPR is to join Russia.

“Six years ago, we chose our path with Russia and are gradually moving towards our goal. We are Russian in spirit and blood. We have one language, one culture, common history and values”, - said Pushilin.

At the same time as Russia, the Victory Day parade was held in both republics of Donbass, which caused extreme dissatisfaction of Kiev, given that the parade was also held in Crimea. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine sent a note of protest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on this occasion, saying that Russia thus violated the resolution of the UN General Assembly on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
