Ivan Safronov, adviser to the head of Roscosmos, a former journalist of Kommersant and Vedomosti, is suspected of working for Czech special services, his lawyer Ivan Pavlov said.

- Investigator claimed that there is evidence of transmission of a document, - RIA Novosti leads Pavlova's words.

The lawyer added that surveillance was organized for Safronov. According to the prosecution, since 2012, out of selfish motives, Safronov has been transmitting to Prague Prague military-technical information about Russian arms supplies for African countries. The investigation insists on the version according to which the transmitted information reached the United States.

- He was watched for a very long time and collected information on him. As a result, they gathered up one episode, which they could not explain, this is all unfounded. The case file also contains his emails and call records for a long period of time, the lawyer said.

At the same time, Czech Interior Minister Jan Gamachek commented on the information that Safronov had provided secret information to the country's secret services, refused, TASS reports.

Lawyer Yevgeny Smirnov said Safronov linked the persecution with his professional activities. According to lawyer Sergei Milyutin, the investigator provided the judge with the alleged correspondence of the detainee, but the defense was not acquainted with her.

A source in RIA Novosti claims that the findings of the investigation into Safronov’s disclosure of state secrets were confirmed by examination.

Earlier it was reported that Safronov is suspected of transmitting secret information to NATO.

Safronov’s case was commented on by Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov, saying that “counterintelligence officers are doing very high quality work”.

The general director of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin, in turn, said that Safronov did not have access to classified information of the state corporation. He also noted that for several years he knew Ivan Safronov as a journalist who was well versed in the materials that he prepared for the publication in newspapers.
