The Ministry of Labor supported the draft amendments to the Labor Code on the Remote Work. The document provides for compensation of electricity costs.

Earlier, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR) demanded that the so-called "udalyonka" - the remote work - would be included into the Labor Code.

From the bill it follows that each employee working remotely has the right to use personal equipment, software and hardware. According to one of the authors of the document, the first deputy chairman of the committee on labor, social policy and affairs of veterans Mikhail Tarasenko, a remote employee may request reimbursement of electricity costs and depreciation of a personal computer, Izvestia reports.

The project was submitted to the State Duma on June 16 by Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the lower house, Valentina Matvienko, speaker of the Federation Council, and a group of deputies and senators. According to the authors of the bill, the changes will help develop labor relations in a changing world, consolidate the new rights of employees and their duties by law.

A compromise between trade unions and employers will have to be found, making some changes to the document, reads the first deputy chairman of the United Russia party Andrei Isayev.

Tarasenko suggests that the new bill will be adopted in all three readings before the end of this year.

Note that more than half of Russians, judging by the VTsIOM (Russian public opinion research center) survey, are dissatisfied with distance work. Earlier, the head of the Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Zhirinovsky said that the Russians need to get used to the new format of work.
