Rescuers from Liza Alert public association named the districts of the Moscow region with the largest number of missing residents

An interview with the coordinator of the volunteer non-profit public association of search and rescue squads Liza Alert and the head of the Forest in Touch program Oleg Leonov has been published on the website of the Moscow Region government, in which he gives disappointing data on missing people and gives useful recommendations.

“The leaders in the number of missing people in 2019 are the urban districts of Balashikha (232 applications), Odintsovsky (190 applications) and Lyubertsy (164 search applications)”, - said the coordinator of the Liza Alert squad.

According to him, the reason for the large number of missing residents is the high density of the population of urban districts: "the more people live in the area, the more disappear".

As Leonov said, most people disappear when the mushroom season comes. "Both Muscovites and residents of the region rush en masse into the forests and get lost there", - says the coordinator of Lisa Alert. In 2019, for example, the month with the maximum number of missing people was July, and in 2018 - September.

Oleg Leonov considers elderly people with dementia to be the main risk group. And the second group is formed by lost small children and teenagers who have run away from home, who in Liza Alert are called "runners" (begunki).

"In Liza Alert strongly advise children to memorize the phone numbers of mom or dad, or be sure to carry a note with the numbers. If the person is already lost, then one should stay in place, not going anywhere; this applies to both adults and children. Children should call out loudly to parents who may be nearby. And most importantly - never go anywhere with strangers, responding to all the offers with a categorical refusal".
