The document assumes that motorcyclists will be fined three thousand rubles for parallel traffic with other vehicles in the same lane. If the traffic contains signs of dangerous driving and maneuvering between the rows across the lane, then the punishment may be 15 thousand rubles or two months of deprivation of a driver's license, Izvestia reports.
According to the author of the document, Svetlana Bessarab, the new bill will be able to protect both motorists and motorcyclists. She added that almost 30 times more motorcycle drivers die in accidents than car drivers.
- Objectively, motorcyclists are not protected from injury due to the nature of their transport. Typical strip widths in our cities may be 2.75 m or less. If you put an SUV on such a lane, it will take 2 meters. How much is left for motorcyclists who, even in such conditions, go to overtake, endangering themselves? This can be corrected only with large fines, - Bessarab believes.
She suggests using surveillance cameras, traffic police and video recorders to record violations.
Despite the fact that the initiative of the parliamentarians has caused a positive response from the president of the College of Legal Protection of Car Owners Viktor Travin, he suggests that it will be almost impossible to control dangerous maneuvering due to the high speed of bikers.
Let us recall that in the Moscow region last year traffic cameras began to record violations of motorcyclists.
