We are talking about ignition blocking devices when the driver detects alcohol while exhaling. The very concept of “introducing alcolocks for vehicles into mass consumption” will be developed by October 1, writes Kommersant. Until October 31, it is planned to work out the issue of "stimulating the mass introduction of alcolocks in serial models".

For the installation of such locks produced in Russia, car manufacturers will receive additional points. State Science Centerof the Russian Federation FSUE NAMI - the leading scientific organization of the Russian Federation in the field of the development of the automotive industry - checked the effect of the devices on the safety of vehicles. In particular, situations should be excluded when the alcolock blocks the engine while driving. Standards are under development that will include the requirements and test methods for alcolocks, as well as the rules for their installation.

The traffic police supported the installation of alcolocks. From 2022, all vehicles that are manufactured in the European Union must be equipped with such locks. But the implementation of the initiative will inevitably affect the cost of cars. Some alcolocks can cost up to 120 thousand rubles.

Note that the devices began to be used in the late 1990s in Sweden. Now they are used in many foreign countries, as a rule, to control those drivers who have already violated the rules not to get drunk behind the wheel. Also, devices are used to control motorists involved in the transportation of passengers.

Dmitry Kozlov, General Director of the Legal Center "Legal Protection", pointed out that in Scandinavia "alcolocks were successfully tested, when the driver, getting into the car after drinking alcohol, simply could not start it".

Earlier, the chairman of the Moscow City Duma, Alexei Shaposhnikov, suggested returning to the discussion of the installation of alcolocks.
