Thousand children from surrogate mothers stuck in Russia

About one thousand babies born to surrogate mothers in Russia cannot leave the country due to the closed borders in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, said Deputy Chairman of the Human Rights Council Irina Kirkora.

According to Irina Kirkora, the problem requires a very rapid solution.

“These children are growing up, they need their parents, - she said in an interview with The Guardian. We have to note that some children were born back in February. They receive care from nannies in the rented apartments in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities.

Kirkora indicated that adoptive parents from Singapore, France, Argentina, Austria and the Philippines are waiting for babies born in the Russian Federation.

The publication notes that parents publish video messages on social networks in which they urge Russia to issue them special visas in order to pick up their children.

Let us recall that recently a criminal case was opened in Moscow after five newborns were accidentally discovered in one of the capital's apartments, presumably for families from China.

In addition, in January 2020, the body of a boy born to a surrogate mother was found in an apartment in Odintsovo. Three more children were also found there. Several health workers were charged with trafficking by an organized group and attempted trafficking that inadvertently resulted in death.
