- The head of UOKiK Tomasz Chróstny imposed a fine of about 213 million zlotys ($ 57 million) on Gazprom. This is the result of a lack of cooperation in the proceedings that are being conducted in connection with the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the regulator's website says.
Let us remind you that the Polish department asked Gazprom in January for data to investigate the Nord Stream 2. Earlier, the regulator imposed a fine of € 40.3 million on the French company Engie for refusal in the same investigation. The case against Gazprom was initiated in June.
Let us recall that the United States is trying to retroactively impose a number of sanctions against European creditors of the Russian pipeline. State secretary Mike Pompeo demands "Leave immediately" from Shell, Engie, Uniper, Wintershall and OMV, otherwise the companies will face a lockdown of all US assets.
These threats were voiced against the backdrop of the completion of the pipeline construction by Gazprom. The company has only 6% of the pipeline left to complete. However, as a result of the sanctions imposed by the United States, the process of completing the construction was significantly complicated.
