A new standard for transport numbers came into force

According to the new standard, a type of signs has been introduced for vehicles with a non-standard attachment point - for example, for Japanese right-hand drive cars or American ones. Also, the overall dimensions of motorcycle license plates have been reduced, the structure and type designation have been preserved. In addition, the type of signs of diplomatic and consular missions is now also assumed for motorcycles.

In addition, a type of signs has appeared for off-road vehicles - ATVs, snow and swamp vehicles - that move on public roads. For mopeds, sports and vintage cars, numbers also appeared.

It will be possible to receive the signs, taking into account the changes, after the regulatory legal acts governing the registration of these types of vehicles have passed the approval process.

Let us recall that the development of the standard was carried out by the Federal State Institution "Scientific Center for Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia" in 2017 and 2018. When preparing the project, the proposals of the Main Traffic Safety Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Agriculture and other interested organizations and citizens were taken into account.

- For the production of signs, the owner of a car or motorcycle can, on his own initiative, contact the appropriate organization. It should be noted that these signs can be made by organizations that have a certificate of approval of the manufactured sample of these types of state registration plates of vehicles, - RIA Novosti quotes the words of a representative of Rosstandart.

We will remind that earlier the Ministry of Internal Affairs introduced new combinations in the codes on car numbers. According to the innovations, the traffic police will be able to issue numbers with three-digit region codes starting not only with "1" or "7", but also with any other digit.

At the beginning of the year it was reported that "beautiful" numbers for the cars could be ordered on the State Services.
