Over a third of all personal data leaks associated with coronavirus occurred in Russia. In total, 72 incidents were identified in the first half of 2020, 25 of them on the territory of the Russian Federation.

This is stated in the report of the InfoWatch company, quoted by Izvestia. In the country in the first six months of this year, the data of 35.5 thousand people leaked. The head of the analytics and special projects of the company, Andrey Arsentiev, points out that in most cases we are talking about the leakage of information about individuals or lists of tens and hundreds of people. Moreover, unlike usual leaks, the publication about patients with coronavirus often entailed the aggression of society, including people from the inner circle.

All leaks in Russia occurred through the fault of those who had access to information resources - as a rule, these are employees of medical institutions, airports and other organizations. In Russia, the share of hacker attacks is 25%.

Previously, experts assumed that the number of data leaks in the Russian Federation at the end of 2020 could increase by 20-50%.

Note that by the end of last year, it was the medical industry that became the leader in data breaches. 69% of medical facilities experience similar problems.

Let us recall that in Russia they proposed to increase the fine for data leakage from 50 thousand to half a million rubles. Note that the country is increasingly faced with such a problem. For example, last year, InfoWatch reported, the number of such incidents increased by 40%. And as soon as citizens massively switched to remote work, due to the pandemic, the number of attempts to steal data doubled.
