The incumbent President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced about new mercenaries who arrived from Russia in order to destabilize the situation in the country on the eve of the presidential elections.

On Tuesday, the President delivered a message to the people. During his speech, he said that the Russians detained the day before had been interrogated. According to them, they deliberately arrived in Belarus, after which they were given the command to "wait". The information that they allegedly went to Turkey, according to the president, turned out to be a legend. Earlier it was noted that 33 Russian mercenaries of the Wagner private military company were detained in the country. They were suspected of planning terrorist attacks on the territory of the republic. After the arrest, the Russian Ambassador to Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev said that they were on their way to Turkey in transit, and in Belarus they were delayed because they missed their flight. On Monday, the Russian consul in Belarus, Kirill Pletnev, said that the detained Russian fighters were to go to Latin America through Istanbul.

“In addition, today we received information that another detachment has been deployed to the south of the country,” the Belarusian newspaper BelTA quotes the president.

The President called on Russia to "stop lying" about the detained residents of the country. "You have already disgraced yourself. First Istanbul, then Venezuela, then not Venezuela. We, Ukrainians, Russians, Poles, Jews have always lived peacefully. Do not blow up the situation, otherwise you yourself will blaze up to Vladivostok", - the president said.

Lukashenko added that now a whole army of Internet provocateurs is trying to destabilize the situation on the eve of the elections. The country, according to the president, is taking serious measures to resist provocateurs.

Earlier, Lukashenko has already appealed to his residents with calls not to repeat the Ukrainian Maidan on the eve of the elections. He accused Russia and Poland of provocations.

Now, according to Lukashenko, they are trying to work out new technologies of the "color revolution" in Belarus, but they will not succeed. According to the president, a real massacre is planned in the center of Minsk. "Until the war as such has not been unleashed, because they have not pulled the trigger. But an attempt to organize this massacre in the center of Minsk is quite obvious. Billions of resources have been thrown into destabilizing the situation here", the president said. According to him, the main goal of this campaign is to play people against each other, intimidate and confuse them.

The country's presidential elections are scheduled for August 9. Earlier, the head of state refused to postpone them due to the risk of the spread of the coronavirus epidemic. At the same time, as political analysts note, if the elections this year are fair, Lukashenko will not win them. The Belarusians themselves are taking to the streets with protests, demanding a choice in the upcoming elections.
