The Turkish Ministry of Health clarified the statement by the head of the department Fahrettin Koca about the increase in cases of coronavirus after the opening of the borders: we are talking about the cases not in the resorts, but in large cities.

- There is no outbreak of coronavirus in resort areas, there are no problems there. We are recording an increase in the number of cases in large cities - Ankara, Istanbul, Konya, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, - RIA Novosti reports the words of a ministry spokesman.

According to statistics for the Mediterranean region of Turkey, which also includes the main resort of Antalya, over the past week the number of new cases of COVID-19 there, on the contrary, has decreased - from 70 to 59.

Earlier, Koca said that for the first time in a long time, the country faced "a serious increase in the number of infections". The media reported that the number of cases in Turkey increased after the country opened its borders to tourists.
