The Investigative Committee of Belarus has opened criminal cases about the riots and the use of violence against the government officials due to protests after the presidential elections.
The head of the Investigative Committee of Belarus, Ivan Noskevich, said that "many of the suspects and detainees were intoxicated during the protests".
Investigative Committee officers inspect the center of the capital, where clashes with the police and riot police took place at night. Investigators ask passers-by to disperse and not interfere with their work.
Let us recall that after the closure of polling stations, as soon as the CEC announced that Alexander Lukashenko had won a victory, gaining more than 80 % of the vote, riots began in Belarus, followed by detentions. In the center of Minsk, the police used flashbangs, some of the protesters were injured. The protesters tried to erect barricades, but riot police managed to take them by storm and dismantle them.
In addition to Minsk, protesters gathered in the center of Mogilyov and in Vitebsk.
The press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus Olga Chemodanova said that “law enforcement officers were forced to use special means against rioters”, “special equipment and noise grenades were used", - TASS reports. She confirmed that there were detainees, but she did not name how many of them. According to her, the situation in the Belarusian capital has been taken under control.
At the same time, representatives of the human rights center Vesna talk about at least 140 detainees.
"As of 3:00 AM Vesna representatives know about more than 140 names of the detainees are known throughout the country. However, much more people are detained", - it's reported on the page of Human Rights Center in Facebook.
Meanwhile, in the Belarusian social networks, information about the seriously injured, and possibly the one who died during the protests in Minsk, has spread, Vzglyad writes.
According to state exit polls, Lukashenko typed 82.08% in closed areas in five regions of Belarus, at Tikhanovskaya 6.98%. The turnout in the elections in Belarus was 79%.
Companions of the presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya voiced the results of exit polls conducted by them, which showed that more than 80% of Belarusians voted for Tikhanovskaya.
