The chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina announced the preliminary results of the presidential elections.

80.23% of voters voted for the current president of the country Alexander Lukashenko, 9.9% - for his main competitor Svetlana Tikhanovskaya. The turnout during the voting was 84.23%.

Formerly associates of the presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya voiced the results of exit polls conducted by them, which showed that more than 80% of Belarusians voted for Tikhanovskaya.

According to Kommersant, citing a statement by the head of the Belarusian CEC, 6.02% voted against all candidates. The head of the Central Election Commission added that the preliminary election results announced today "are unlikely to change".

The presidential elections in Belarus were held on August 9. According to state exit polls, Lukashenko typed 82.08% in closed areas in five regions of Belarus, at Tikhanovskaya 6.98%. The turnout in the elections in Belarus was 79%.
