Lev Zeleny, the scientific director of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, suggested that the objects are most likely communications satellites launched by Elon Musk's SpaceX company. But the fact that the objects appeared and quickly disappeared aroused interest among experts.
Institute researcher Nathan Eismont also expressed the opinion that the lights seen belonged to SpaceX vehicles.
- This is most likely a "piece" of Musk's group. The interesting thing is that they came and went. But this also has an explanation. We see them when they reflect sunlight. Reflection does not last long. Then the reflected light goes past the ISS. Most likely, this is exactly the version, - RIA Novosti quotes the words of Eismont.
Mikhail Skachkov, deputy head for scientific work at the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, supported the version of his colleagues.
- As a variant of explanation - another artificial satellite, which is visible as a point object. He gave glare on the camera optics. This version is supported by the equal distance between the images. Probably, the satellite was out of sight, and this is all - glare from it, - he told Gazeta.ru.
There is another way to explain the UFOs taken from the ISS - it's just space debris. This version was put forward by an expert in the space industry, Ivan Moiseyev.
- Passing satellites and their debris sweep past the ISS at such a speed that it is impossible to notice them. But the elements that are separated from the ISS, for example, pieces of vacuum casing, they can be quite noticeable, "Interfax reports Moiseev.
Let us recall that the video filmed by the Russian cosmonaut Ivan Wagner was sent to the RAS for analysis.
The video, which Wagner posted on Wednesday, shows five luminous objects lined up in a single line, synchronously moving above the Earth. The cosmonaut watched them for about a minute.
