Onishchenko informed about the new strains of flu that threaten schoolchildren

He noted that children are "relatively neutral" to tolerate COVID-19, and therefore the epidemiological situation allows the school year to start on September 1.

- We are more afraid of a rise in the incidence of influenza, this year there are three new strains. With a high probability, they will circulate from the beginning of cold snaps and a drop in temperature, - Onishchenko told URA.RU.

The coronavirus has not gone anywhere, Onishchenko noted, but it is necessary to return to normal life with the necessary protection measures.

- We must confidently go to the beginning of the school year, give a powerful impetus to return to normal life, - Onishchenko believes.

He also added that children "must be taught" to wear masks and maintain social distance.

We will remind that earlier the State Duma deputies proposed to postpone the beginning of the academic year to October 1. The Ministry of Education did not agree with this initiative.
