Thirty years after the premiere, the film will have a new title, a new beginning and a new ending.

Francis Ford Coppola said that 30 years after the premiere, he is reworking the final part of his famous gangster trilogy, which is considered a failure, reports the Independent.

The first and second parts of "The Godfather" are considered classics of cinema. The third was less fortunate: she disappointed everyone at the time of her release in 1990 and over the past 30 years has not looked better. However, Francis Ford Coppola believes that everything is fixable: at the end of this year he will release a new version of the film. The tape will have a different name - "The Godfather" by Mario Puzo, code: The Death of Michael Corleone "(Mario Puzo's The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone).

As the director explains, this is how he and the writer initially wanted to name the movie, which appeared in the box office as "The Godfather: Part III".

“In the new version, I made a new beginning and ending, and also rearranged some scenes, shots and musical cues,” says Coppola. “I think with these changes and restored sound and images, this film will be the best ending to The Godfather and The Godfather Part II”.

Coppola's collaborators reportedly went through 300 boxes of negatives to replace more than 50 low-resolution film clips with better quality cuts, as well as remove scratches, blemishes and other visual imperfections. The sound track has also been restored. In this form, the film is scheduled to be released in some cinemas in December this year. In 2008, Coppola already oversaw the restoration of the first two films of "The Godfather", but then everything cost much less alterations.
