Surprise, shock, indignation, disgust... The inhabitants of Riga experienced a whole range of feelings when they saw a sculpture depicting a multi-armed monster with a human head on a stone base left from an old railway bridge over the Daugava River (Western Dvina).

The Facebook residents of Riga are filled with photographs of this "creature" from the various angles.

The overwhelming majority of comments are extremely negative, many contain obscene expressions. The definition of "hands-ass" is often found, as well as other variations.

People express bewilderment and indignation: why is the disgusting sculpture on display practically in the center of the city? It is literally a stone's throw from the General Radzin embankment to Old Riga.

It turned out that the "masterpiece" appeared in the "Sculpture Quadrennial Riga 2020" (Sculpture Quadrennial male Riga).

It was created by the Lithuanian sculptor Donatas Motskus, and the real name of the "multi-handled" is Homo democraticus. “The author believes that the representatives of the people, having received power, turn into monsters. As a result, the multi-armed hybrid is looking for profit and is guided only by his own personal interests, and not by the interests of society", - Russian Broadcasting LTV 7 reports on its Facebook.

The fact is that this time the theme of the quadrennial is “Miracles of Democracy”.

“Donatas Motskus is simply a Seer ... With this sculpture he showed the future of Latvia... Praise the sculpture”, one of the commentators notes sarcastically. The other answers him: "This is already the present in Latvia".

Art objects “integrated into the urban environment” in the capital of Latvia have appeared at 12 sites, created by Latvian and foreign artists.

Sculptures and installations are located at Dailes Theater, Riga Circus, Spikeri promenade and other places.

Some commentators on the Internet call the event a "parade of freaks" and note that contemporary art has finally discredited itself.

“Thanks God, this monster will not be here for a long time!”, - people write on Facebook. The art objects will be demonstrated until October 31.
