Serbian President Aleksandr Vucic announced on national television that Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov apologized because of the post of the official representative of the foreign ministry Maria Zakharova about the visit of the Serbian delegation to Washington.

According to Vucic, he had a "great telephone conversation" with his Russian counterpart.

- President Putin never apologized to me for anything, and neither did Sergey Lavrov. And because of this, both did it. Moreover, I did not even remind and as a well-mannered person I would never have mentioned it. I think we have a good relationship and this is a passing and unimportant incident for me, Vucic told RTS TV channel.

Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed to RIA Novosti that Putin has indeed apologized to the Serbian leader.

Let us recall that Zakharova published a photo of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Alexander Vucic. The photo shows Vucic sitting in a chair in the center of the room in front of a wide table, at which, in turn, Trump is sitting. In the same post, Zakharova published another photo - a still from the film Basic Instinct, with the caption “If you were summoned to the White House, and the chair was placed as if you were under interrogation, sit as shown in photo # 2. Whoever you are. Just check".

Of course, in diplomatic circles such an inappropriate "joke" Zakharova was criticized. Among the outraged was Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandr Vulin, who reminded the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman that it was Vucic who was the only European president to oppose sanctions against Russia.

“The size of a person is not measured by the size of the chair on which he sits, but is measured by the size of the courage with which he is ready to defend his people and friendly peoples from a chair of any size”, - Vulin said then.

Zakharova was ashamed by the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija under the Serbian Cabinet of Ministers, Marko Djuric, and Vucic himself. The Serbian Foreign Ministry demanded an explanation from Zakharova.

As a result, Zakharova was forced to apologize for the post, explaining that her comment was "misinterpreted", and she only wanted to show the "arrogance of the United States".
