The procedure of the admission to universities has changed

The Ministry of Education and Science has approved the procedure for admission to studying for bachelor's, specialist's and master's programs. They will come into effect from the 2021-2022 academic year.

- The main emphasis is on expanding the capabilities of universities to conduct admission to training and opportunities for applicants when entering universities, - the ministry said.

Now it will be possible to conduct a single competition in several related specialties or areas within the enlarged group. Students will be able to provide the result of the exam, for example, in physics or computer science at their discretion. The ministry believes that this will facilitate the process of admission, first of all, in areas related to information technology.

Universities will also accept documents in electronic form. In 2020, this was determined by measures to combat the spread of coronavirus infection. Also, for applicants, the opportunity is established to make changes to the application for admission or reapply. Competition lists will be updated every day at least five times a day.

The innovations imply that universities will independently establish entrance exams for applicants on the basis of secondary education. Also, the university will be able to establish the maximum number of specialties and areas of training in which the applicant is entitled to participate in the competition.

The procedure for enrolling in budget places on a full-time basis will become easier, it will take place in two stages: priority (without exams - for beneficiaries and “target persons”) and the main one.

All admission data will now be published by universities on their websites no later than November 1 of the year preceding the year of admission.

It is worth noting that the higher education system in Russia is experiencing enormous financial problems.

- We have ruined education, both school and university. It takes 20 years to learn a good engineer - 10 normal school, five good university and five years of practice in a strong team, economist Dmitry Milin pointed out.
