The secret inauguration of Alexander Lukashenko as president of Belarus only discredits him even more, said British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab.

- The secret inauguration of Lukashenko, which took place today in Minsk, further undermines his reputation. His rigged elections were a deception of the Belarusian people, - wrote Raab the day before in his Twitter.

Before that, the US State Department said that they did not consider Lukashenko the legitimate head of the republic after the inauguration.

Earlier, the authorities of seven European countries refused to recognize Alexander Lukashenko as the legitimate president of Belarus after a secret inauguration on 23 September. Among them are Germany, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Czech Republic and Denmark.

It should be reminded that several hundred people attended the ceremony of Lukashenko’s inauguration, including senior officials, parliamentarians and members of the republic’s Council.

A member of the presidium of the coordinating council of the Belarusian opposition, who fled abroad, Pavel Latushko called what is happening an unprecedented situation: “The outgoing president, who claims to have gained more than 80 percent of the votes in the elections, conducted a special operation to self-enforce himself”.
