“According to Belarusian laws, we should not notify any Western countries, or indeed anyone, about the inauguration. This is our internal affair”, - Belta writes with reference to the president's words. Lukashenko added that about two thousand people were invited to his inauguration, it was basically impossible to keep the information about the inauguration secret, he said. He recommended addressing all questions of Western countries about the alleged secret inauguration of the president to the intelligence services of these countries. According to the president, Western media wrote that the inauguration would take place on 23 September.
And the fact that some countries were "offended" by the fact that they were not notified about the holding of this event is their own business. Next time Lukashenko promised to notify Poland and Lithuania about familiar events in the country.
The President once again noted that he had not asked anyone from the countries of the world to recognize or not recognize the election results and his legitimacy as president. The main thing is for the elections to be held in accordance with the Belarusian Constitution.
Lukashenko's inauguration took place in Minsk on September 23. It was not announced in advance about the holding of this ceremony. After the event, British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab wrote on his Twitter that Lukashenko's "secret" inauguration further undermined the authority of the Belarusian leader. He called the past presidential elections in the country "a deception of the Belarusian people". Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that "secret, pompous inauguration ceremonies will not give the illusion of legitimacy to the past rigged elections in the country". The leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya called the last inauguration a farce, considering herself the only legitimate leader of the country.
