Andrey Levchenkio, who holds the post of deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region, the son of the former governor of the region Sergey Levchenko, was detained on suspicion of the large-scale fraud.

The case against the 38-year-old deputy elected in 2018 to the Legislative Assembly on the list of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is being conducted by the Investigative Committee of Russia. Searches were carried out in the house, at work and at the deputy's father.

"The Main Directorate for the Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Committee of Russia has established the involvement of the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk region Andrey Levchenko in committing fraud on an especially large scale", - RIA Novosti reports, citing a statement from the official representative of the ICR Svetlana Petrenko.

In the near future, the issue of electing the deputy of a preventive measure will be decided.

A criminal case on embezzlement of funds from the Fund for Capital Repair of Apartment Buildings of the Irkutsk Region was initiated under Article 159 of the Criminal Code (attempted large-scale fraud) in February 2019. The UK opened a criminal case. One of the defendants in the case was the director of Zvezda LLC, Oleg Khamulyak. Now it has become clear that the son of the ex-head of the region may also be involved in the crime.

According to the investigation, in October 2017, Hamulyak provided regional officials with forged documents concerning the participation of contractors in the preliminary selection for the repair and replacement of elevator equipment. Acting together with Levchenko, Khamulyak entered into an agreement with the supplier for the supply of elevator equipment to Irkutsk. The amount of the transaction with a foreign partner amounted to over 167 million rubles. Under this agreement, they demanded an advance payment from the authorities. In the meantime, the attackers created another company, thanks to which the cost of repair work doubled - up to 319.6 million rubles. Then, according to the investigation, they regularly supplied to the Overhaul Fund with false reports with deliberately inflated figures. As a result, the damage to the regional budget exceeded 185 million rubles.

According to media reports, Levchenko Jr. is now working as the general director of CJSC Stalkonstruktsiya. His father, who served as governor of the Irkutsk region since 2015, resigned in December 2019 of his own free will after scandals related to the elimination of the consequences of powerful floods in the Angara region in the summer of 2019, when about 11 thousand residential buildings were flooded due to flooding of rivers with a population of about 45 thousand people, more than 20 people died.
