Historian Anatoly Razumov (pictured) was detained in Petrozavodsk near the building of the Supreme Court of Karelia after he unfurled a poster in defense of the head of the regional “Memorial” Yuri Dmitriyev during an interview.

After Razumov showed the poster to the camera, the police captain approached him, introduced himself and said that pickets were prohibited outside the courthouse. Interfax clarifies that Razumov was detained.

The historian was taken to the police department for the enforcement of administrative legislation to give written explanations.

At present, the Karelian court is considering appeals against the sentence to Yuri Dmitriev.

Let us recall that on July 22, Dmitriyev was sentenced to three and a half years in prison on charges of making child pornography with a photo of his adopted daughter, of sexual abuse of her and illegal storage of parts of a hunting rifle. The historian admitted guilt only in the latter.

At the same time, on April 5, 2018, the Petrozavodsk City Court fully acquitted Dmitriev under the article on the production of child pornography, as well as under the article on lecherous actions against his adopted daughter, recognizing his right to rehabilitation and compensation for damage.

Anatoly Razumov is a Soviet and Russian historian, an expert on the period of mass repressions in the USSR, author of a book in memory of victims of Stalinist repressions Leningrad Martyrology, as well as the "Returned Names" database and head of the center of the same name at the Russian National Library.
