Great Britain agreed to support anti-Russian measures because of what happened to opposition leader Alexey Navalny. Earlier, the Foreign Ministries of France and Germany sent their partners in the European Union a proposal to impose sanctions against the Russian Federation.

The Netherlands supported the measures earlier.

“The UK supports our German and French partners in our response to the hideous poisoning of Alexey Navalny. While the Russian authorities have clear reasons for responding, they are not making any serious attempts to investigate the attack”, - said British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab (pictured).

Earlier, Navalny himself advised German Chancellor Angela Merkel to impose sanctions against Russian oligarchs and the entourage of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He considered it "ineffective" to impose sanctions against the country.

Navalny is seeking an investigation of his case, despite the fact that, according to Russian law enforcement officers, there are no grounds for initiating a criminal case. He intends to seek a UN investigation. Earlier, France and Canada also announced the need to make efforts to clarify the circumstances of the incident with the Russian politician and bring those responsible to justice.

Let us recall that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons revealed the presence of the Novichok poison in Navalny's analyzes.
