The political crisis in Belarus has been going on for over two months. Despite the persecution by the authorities and beatings by the security forces in the streets and after the arrests, tens of thousands of people come out to protest actions, there are strikes, night concerts in the courtyards and other actions of disobedience. After the presidential elections held on August 9, Alexander Lukashenko's next victory was announced, with which a significant part of society, from young people to pensioners, from Minsk intelligentsia to workers from regional centers, disagreed.
"If our demands are not met by October 25, the whole country will peacefully take to the streets with the People's Ultimatum. And on October 26, a national strike of all enterprises, blocking of all roads, a collapse of sales in state stores will begin. You have 13 days to fulfill three conditions", - theins.ru quotes the words of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, whom many opposition representatives call the winner of the elections.
Yesterday, October 12, protest marches of pensioners took place in Minsk, Brest, Grodno, Gomel, Soligorsk, Lida and other cities of Belarus. They also demanded the resignation of Alexander Lukashenko and an end to repressions and free elections. The security forces used tear gas and stun grenades against the elderly. The police of Belarus also warned citizens of their readiness to use even military weapons against the protesters.
