Iranian air defenses attacked an unknown unmanned aerial vehicle that invaded the country's airspace from Armenia.

For the first time in history, the Iranian military attacked an Armenian drone: an unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed while violating the country's border.

According to avia.pro, the drone was spotted near the Azerbaijani-Iranian border, in the province of Ardabil. So far, the type of the destroyed drone has not been identified, however, experts believe that we are talking about a reconnaissance drone, which was designed to transmit coordinates for artillery strikes.

“This is far from the first time that Iran has attacked drones invading its airspace, but the first time when a drone belonging to Armenia was destroyed”, - the statement said.

The conflict between Azerbaijan and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, backed by Armenia, resumed on 27 September. This aggravation became the most serious in the last quarter of a century, and several states were drawn into it at once.

Turkey, which does not hide its support for Azerbaijan, is a member of NATO, while Armenia is a member of the CSTO, which also includes Russia and some countries of the former USSR. According to the statutes of both military blocs, an attack on one of its members is equivalent to an attack on all the countries of the alliances.

Earlier, Iran announced its readiness to immediately respond to violation of its borders and shelling of the territory, stressing that this applies to both Azerbaijan and Armenia.

A few days ago, an incident was already recorded when Iranian artillery means struck at the positions of the Azerbaijani military, who were going to attack the regions bordering with the NKR.

Meanwhile, despite the efforts of the diplomats, the Karabakh conflict has not been settled. On October 4, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS), Ahmet Abul Gheit, pointed to Turkey's destructive role in the Caucasus and Mediterranean regions, where tensions are growing as a result of Ankara's intervention.

The Secretary General of the Arab League suggested that such behavior of the Turkish side could "end badly" for this regional power. Turkey expressed support - "both at the negotiating table and on the battlefield" - to Azerbaijan in the issue of the military conflict with Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh on September 29, two days after the clashes began.

The Prime Minister of Armenia, in turn, stated that "Syrian mercenaries, terrorists, special forces of the Turkish army", led by Turkish officers of the highest rank, are involved in the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh.
