A Moscow City Duma deputy faces a suspended sentence for a large-scale fraud

Oleg Sheremetyev himself does not admit his guilt; the Communist Party considers his persecution to be politically motivated.

In the 2019 elections to the Moscow City Duma, Oleg Sheremetyev was elected from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation in the east of Moscow (Novogireevo and Veshnyaki districts), but was also supported by participants in the project of opposition politician Alexey Navalny "Smart Voting". He was also among the deputies who submitted to the Moscow City Duma a draft resolution of no confidence in its speaker Alexei Shaposhnikov in connection with the investigation of his suspicious $ 2 billion in income, - reports newsru.com.

Today, on October 19, the state prosecution asked to sentence Oleg Sheremetyev to four years probation, as well as to recover from him more than two million rubles in compensation for the alleged damage and to appoint a probationary period for five years. The deputy himself is now under house arrest, the Interfax news agency reported.
