A 28-year-old volunteer who participated in the trial of a coronavirus vaccine by the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca died in Brazil.

It is reported by the Brazilian publication Globo, citing the National Health Surveillance Agency.

It does not indicate what exactly was administered to the volunteer: a placebo or a vaccine. However, Bloomberg writes that the drug was not administered to the deceased.

As a reminder, trials of the AstraZeneca vaccine were suspended until two controversial cases were fully clarified, with suspected serious side effects. Earlier, AstraZeneca signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian company R-Pharm. They intended to jointly release a new vaccine if it successfully passes all clinical trials. In total, AstraZeneca has pledged to supply up to two billion doses of the vaccine.

Johnson & Johnson, Inovio Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly have also suspended trials of a covid vaccine.
