The situation with the coronavirus epidemic in Russia is likely to worsen in February-March, and summer indicators should be expected only by the summer of 2021.

RIA Novosti was told about this by Natalya Pshenichnaya, Deputy Director for Clinical and Analytical Work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.

“After the New Year holidays in February-March, the epidemic process is intensifying again, and we will return to summer indicators, most likely, closer to summer,” she clarified.

The expert explained that in order for the epidemic to subside, most of the population must become immune to the virus, either thanks to antibodies after an illness, or after vaccination, or using the "cellular memory" of lymphocytes, which copes with the infection and in the absence of some people have antibodies.
