The rector of the Arctic State Agrotechnological University, a deputy of the parliament of Yakutia, was detained in a case of fraud and abuse of office.

The prosecutor's office is sure that since 2016 the university has illegally received 250 million rubles. from the federal budget for students who actually did not exist.

"In fact, these students at the university have been received, training in it were not allocated from the federal budget funds were spent for other purposes, which are to be seen", - said the prosecutor's statement.

The supervisory agency, together with the FSB department for the region, began an audit, during which criminal cases were initiated under articles of fraud by a group of persons by prior conspiracy with the use of official position on an especially large scale and abuse of official powers. Cases are combined into one production.

The prosecutor's office does not name the name of the rector, but it is known that since 2016 Ivan Sleptsov has been working in this position. According to the United Russia website, he is a member of the presidium of the regional branch of the party.

According to local media reports, on the eve of the detention of the university rector, searches were carried out at the university.
