This is reported by the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
"At the Sary-Shagan training ground (Republic of Kazakhstan), the combat crew of the air and anti-missile defense forces of the Aerospace Forces successfully carried out the next test launch of a new missile of the Russian anti-missile defense system (ballistic missile defence)", - the ministry said.
According to Lieutenant General Anlrey Demin, commander of the First Air Force and Anti-Ballistic Missile Defense of the Aerospace Forces, the new anti-missile "after a series of tests reliably confirmed the inherent characteristics, and the combat crews successfully completed the task, hitting a conditional target with a given accuracy".
The department points out that the air defense system is designed to protect against attacks from aerospace attack weapons.
The last time a new rocket was tested at the Sary-Shagan test site was at the end of October. Previously - in June and July 2019, and before that in February, July, August and December 2018, as well as in November 2017.
Recall that in May, the Russian military tested a new hypersonic aircraft missile, work on which began several years ago. The tests of the rocket will be completed together with work on the modernized Tu-22M3M bomber.
