The official representative of the Investigative Committee Svetlana Petrenko denied media reports that the agency was allegedly checking the statements of opposition politician Alexey Navalny on the air of Ekho Moskvy in response to calls for extremism.

According to Petrenko, the information disseminated in the media that the IC department in Moscow is allegedly conducting an inspection of the opposition's speech "does not correspond to reality".

“Once again I draw the attention of the media to the fact that it is necessary to disseminate only verified messages emanating from official sources, and not refer to anonymous sources, which sometimes deliberately use false information to draw attention to certain persons”, - the Dozhd TV channel quotes »Statement of the representative of the UK.

Information that investigators found signs of extremism and calls for a violent change of the constitutional order in the April speech of Navalny on the air of the U-turn program on Ekho Moskvy was posted by the TASS agency. At the same time, it was not specified which of the law enforcement agencies is conducting investigative actions on the fact of Navalny's broadcast.

Navalny himself, having seen the publication, said that with such threats the Russian authorities want to prevent him from returning to Russia from Europe, where he is undergoing rehabilitation after an attempt on his life with the use of a Novichok-type nerve agent. Addressing the country's President Vladimir Putin, Navalny said that he "does not care" about the threats from the security officials.
