Doctor of Arts, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, laureate of two State Prizes of the Russian Federation (for 1995 and 2017), full holder of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, Irina Antonova has worked at the Pushkin Museum since 1945. As head of the museum in 1961, she led it for 52 years - until 2013, and then, after retiring, received the honorary title of president of the museum.
Irina Antonova is the author of over 100 publications. Among her works are articles, catalogs, albums, TV shows, scripts of popular science films.
For many years, Irina Alexandrovna was engaged in teaching activities: she worked at the art history department at Moscow State University, at the Institute of Cinematography, in the auditorium of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, at the Institute of Oriental Languages in Paris, fluently spoke German, French and Italian. Since 2011, she has been a member of the Public Chamber of Russia.
