In the United States, a female record holder in the field of reproductive technology was born: she was born 27 years after "in vitro fertilization".

The parents of the unique child are American spouses: 36-year-old Ben and 29-year-old Tina Gibson, who genetically have nothing to do with their little daughter.

“Molly Gibson was born in October of this year, but it took 27 years for her to be born. The embryo from which she was born was frozen in October 1992 and remained in storage until February 2020, when Tina and Ben Gibson decided to become his parents”, - reports News.mail.ru.

Three years ago, the world record for the duration of being in a frozen state belonged to Molly's older sister, Emma.

For a long time, the Gibsons were unable to conceive a child naturally. Their childlessness forced them to apply to the National Embryo Donation Center (NEDC) in Knoxville, Tennessee. The center stores about a million frozen human embryos, which the parents did not use for the birth of the child during the IVF procedure and decided to donate for families suffering from infertility. Over the past 17 years, NEDC has helped give birth to about 1,000 babies born from frozen embryos. Every year about 200 families turn to the reproductive specialists of this center for help. They study information about donors and choose the parameters of the appearance of the unborn child.

According to Tina Gibson, both of her daughters are similar to each other: they are genetic sisters. Both embryos were frozen in 1992 when their mother-to-be was only one year old.

According to reproductive specialists, the shelf life of frozen embryos is not limited. It is possible that someday a baby will be born, conceived not 27, but 50 or even 100 years ago, and who will be much "older" than its future mother.
