Interpol struck out from the wanted list data on the former owners of Promsvyazbank, brothers Dmitry and Alexey Ananiyev, accused in Russia of multibillion-dollar wasteful spendings and embezzlement.

Kommersant writes that this happened on November 6. The Commission for Control over the Files of the International Police Organization considered the complaint of the bankers' protection side and recognized the criminal prosecution of the Ananiyevs as politically motivated.

"Our position found full and unconditional support. In all the proceedings, we stated that the persecution of Dmitry and Alexey Ananiyev is part of a campaign to wean one of the most successful private commercial banks in Russia in order to create a tool to serve the defense sector in the context of sanctions", - said the lawyer of the Ananiyevs.

Ex-co-owners of Promsvyazbank Dmitry and Alexey Ananiyevs are accused of embezzling bank property in the amount of over 66 billion rubles and $ 575 million.

The investigation insists on the version according to which Dmitry Ananiyev, being the chairman of the board of a credit institution, together with his brother and unidentified persons, spent money in favor of Promsvyaz Capital BV, the ultimate beneficiary of which is Alexey Ananiyev.

The new owners of Promsvyazbank demanded through the courts that the Ananiyev brothers return 282 billion rubles, which, in their opinion, were lost through the fault of the bankers. The accounts, lands, houses, cars and planes of the Ananiyevs were seized.

Recall that Dmitry Ananiyev in 2006-2013 was a member of the Federation Council from the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, it was reported that in 2017 he moved to the UK. Alexey Ananiyev is also known as a philanthropist, the founder of the Institute of Russian Realistic Art.
