Ahead of the premiere of his new film "The Midnight Sky", George Clooney admitted that the filming brought him to hospitalization, according to the Daily Mail.
On one of the shooting days, Clooney, who was both the director and the leading actor, felt a sharp pain in his stomach. Doctors rushed the movie star to the hospital, where they diagnosed an attack of pancreatitis.
According to the 59-year-old actor, the reason for the aggravation was the rapid weight loss for the role - in order to look like a hopeless cancer patient, Clooney sat on a strict diet and lost about 13 kilograms. “I think I overdid it: I tried to lose weight as quickly as possible and did not think too much about the consequences”, - says the star. “It took several weeks to recover, and it was not easy: the director needs a lot of energy while working”.
The situation was complicated by the fact that the shooting took place in Finland in winter: Clooney plays an elderly astronaut who managed to survive the apocalypse, and now he, with cancer, is living out his days all alone at the Arctic station. A crew is about to return to Earth from space, knowing nothing about the catastrophe that happened here, and the hero must at all costs warn his colleagues about the danger.
The movie is set to premiere on Netflix on December 23rd.
