The overwhelming majority of Russians (85%) do not plan to go anywhere on New Year's holidays. A third of them (34% of respondents) say they will stay at home because they have no money to travel.

Another 13% of participants in a survey conducted by Yandex.Travel are afraid of contracting coronavirus, 9% are afraid of restrictive measures that may be introduced. The remaining 29% of survey participants said they would stay at home because they like to spend New Year's holidays with their families.

Those few residents who nevertheless decided to travel on New Year's holidays. The most popular foreign destinations are Turkey, UAE and Abkhazia. In Russia, the most popular routes are Sochi and Moscow.

It was previously noted that each family plans to spend an average of 25 thousand rubles on New Year's holidays this year. This is more than a quarter more than a year ago. At the same time, Russians' spending on gifts will be significantly reduced, but the costs of the New Year's table will increase, according to a survey of residents of the country.

This year, New Year's corporate parties and Christmas trees for kids were also canceled in a number of regions. The majority of Russians (75%) support this decision of the authorities. Up to half of Russians do not mind taking part in New Year's corporate parties, but most employers (81%) are not going to hold them, saving money.
