The agreement was signed back on November 19, but it was published on the portal of legal information of Belarus only on December 18.
"The parties cooperate in accordance with the provisions of this agreement, acting within their competence, in compliance with the legislation and international obligations of the states of the parties", - is stated in the document.
It lists the areas of cooperation between the two departments, including the protection of public order and ensuring public safety, the protection of important state and security facilities, special cargo, the fight against terrorism and extremism, the state control over the circulation of weapons, ensuring the security of fuel and energy facilities, the protection of property of individuals and legal entities, military support on combating crime.
In addition, the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian National Guard are going to develop sports and cultural ties, provide assistance in sanatorium-resort treatment of the military, civilian personnel of both departments and their families.
Let us recall that at the end of August, Putin announced the creation of a reserve of law enforcement officers in order to provide neighboring Belarus with assistance if necessary. The Russian leader clarified that Alexander Lukashenko had made such a request to him. The reserve was formed against the background of protests in the republic after the announcement of the official results of the presidential elections. The demonstrators disagree with Lukashenka’s victory and believe that Svetlana Tikhanovskaya won the victory.
