Information about budget spending on travel by high-ranking Russian officials became known after a study of the government procurement website.
“Aeroflot has traditionally been the only participant in the competition, which is announced every year”, - Interfax reports.
According to the news agency, the organization of the competition was organized by the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Special flight unit“ Russia”, which is part of the presidential administration.
For 4.3 billion rubles, Aeroflot will provide airport and ground handling of aircraft with officials and official delegations on board. The amount includes the cost of refueling, onboard meals for the crew and passengers. The terms of the contract also include accommodation of the crew at the airports of arrival and departure, air navigation and other services.
Earlier, the budget allocated from 4.2 to 6.8 billion rubles for the transportation of high-ranking officials. Aeroflot was also announced the winner of the tenders of the last three years.
This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic and the suspension of flights between a number of countries, many airlines were forced to significantly reduce the number of flights and announce a reduction in pilots' salaries, as well as staff cuts.
