The Basmanny Court of Moscow ruled on the arrest until February 28 against the former schema-hegumen Sergiy (Romanov), who was detained at night in the Sredneuralsky nunnery and is suspected of suicidal tendencies.

This is reported by Interfax, referring to the press secretary of the court Irina Sofinskaya. The court considered it impossible to choose a milder measure of restraint for the detainee. Romanov's lawyer Ivan Mironov said that the decision would be appealed to the Moscow City Court.

Let us remind you that the ex-schema-hegumen Sergiy, excommunicated from the church, was detained on the night of December 29. He was charged under three articles: of inducement to suicide, violation of the right to freedom of conscience and religion, and arbitrariness.

"He does not admit guilt for any of them. So far I have not seen the materials of the case and have not communicated with Sergiy in detail, but I can say for sure about the non-recognition of guilt", - said Mironov.

The main reason for the investigation was the recording of a sermon posted on the YouTube channel of Vsevolod Moguchev on December 5 under the headline "For the faith of Christ, we stand to death". During his sermon, Sergiy cited as an example the story of the spiritual daughter of Saint Seraphim of Sarov, Yelena Diveyevskaya, who was blessed to die instead of her brother. Sergiy asked the parishioners if they were ready to die for Russia, for children.
