This year, Russians were twice as likely to buy sweet New Year gifts for their children. Moreover, on average, residents of the country spent 576 rubles on sets of sweets, which is 16% more than a year earlier, according to a study by the operator of fiscal data, Platform OFD.

This year Russians bought artificial spruces less often than last year. The demand for them decreased by 10%. Those who nevertheless decided to buy an artificial Christmas tree at home preferred less expensive specimens. So, the average check for this product this year decreased by 10% - to 2.2 thousand rubles, writes TASS with reference to the study.

Prices for tangerines and champagne this year also increased compared to the previous year, and the number of purchases of these goods for the New Year's table has dropped sharply. For example, Russians bought tangerines 10% less often and champagne 20% less often, while the average bill for citrus fruits increased to 104 rubles (by 20%), and for champagne - to 410 rubles (an increase of 21%).

The price has also increased this year for New Year's crackers, firecrackers, fireworks and fireworks. The average check for New Year's crackers with confetti amounted to 122 rubles, an increase of 21%, firecrackers increased in price by 20% - the average bill for them was 135 rubles, the same amount of sparklers rose in price, the average bill for which increased to 67 rubles, and the average the price of New Year's fireworks increased to 411 rubles, an increase of 10%. At the same time, purchases of firecrackers this year decreased by 15%, New Year's fireworks - by 10%, sparklers - by 6%. By contrast, sales of firecrackers increased by 12%.
