This was reported on January 4 by the "Caucasian Knot" resource. According to the newspaper, on January 3, at the intersection in Volzhsky, asphalt collapsed due to a breakthrough in a heating pipeline. Due to the accident, 194 houses were left without heat and hot water.
Three people fell into a pit with boiling water. Two were placed in intensive care. The fourth victim is a rescuer who helped them get out. By the morning of January 4, the heat supply to some of the houses was restored.
In the intensive care unit of Volgograd Hospital No. 25, the oldest victim, a 75-year-old Volzhan, died. Another victim remains in intensive care, and two others, including the rescuer, are transferred to the general wards of the burn department.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased elderly man fell into a pit with boiling water up to his waist, and the rescuer received burns to his legs.
The prosecutor's office of the Volgograd region organized an inspection on the fact of a communal accident in Volzhsky. As reported to the Vysota 102 news agency, Oksana Cheredinina, the senior assistant to the regional prosecutor, will decide on the issue of taking response measures if there are grounds.
