At the age of 82, the first governor of the Sakhalin Region, Valentin Fyodorov, has died.

This was reported by the press service of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk administration.

The release says that Fedorov "laid the foundation for the transformation of the socio-economic sphere of the Sakhalin region".

Mayor Sergey Nadsadin and the mayor's office expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.

It's worth reminding that the first head of Sakhalin was born in Yakutia, in Moscow he graduated from the Plekhanov Institute of National Economy and graduated from the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Valentin Fyodorov became the first governor of the Sakhalin Region in 1991, and in 1993 he took the post of Deputy Minister of Economy of Russia.
